Cala Tamarells

East coast, near Es Grau

Cala Tamarells

If the popular-with-families sands and shallow waters of Es Grau are not for you, then Cala Tamarells is a lovely alternative not too far away. You’ll need to be a bit fit to tackle the climbs and occasional boulder traversing that is required to get there, but once you get there you are rewarded by a charming sandy cove which is popular with hikers stopping to cool off while tackling the Cami de Cavalls trail.

Facilities  None
Car park  Ample but distant
Best time to go  Any time
How to get there  From the Me-7 Mahon-Fornells road, take the Me-5 into Es Grau, parking in the beachside car park. Cross the road on foot and follow the crescent-shaped Es Grau beach around, bearing right at the end as you climb the cliff path. It’s around 25 minutes on foot from here to Cala Tamarells, and sometimes the going is quite rocky and steep
