Cala Pregonda

North coast, near Es Mercadal

Cala Pregonda

Given the half-hour walk from the nearest parking, very few people make the trek to this beautiful beach on Menorca’s northern coast – their loss, because it is one of the island’s most lovely and features a fabulous sheltered bay. There are spectacular rocks to climb and view and clear waters ideal for snorkelling. Jellyfish can be a problem at times.

How to get there The route to Cala Pregonda is well signposted from Es Mercadal: look out for the brown signs for Cavalleria, Binimel-la and Pregonda, and Platges Costa Nord, which will lead you to the Cami de Tramuntana and the north coast. Park at Binimel-la, which is reached up a wide and only slightly rough track from the main road, and then hike the rest of the way, bearing westwards along the famous Cami de Cavalls horse-riding trail. Pregonda is a half-hour trek from the car park, but well worth the effort
